The Flying Camera Portrait Services and Price List

The Flying Camera is a full-service, totally custom portrait photography studio. We offer personalized photography in our studio or on location, and the finest in traditional, large-format portraiture to capture unique representations of you that will last for generations. We specialize in handcrafted black-and-white images, both traditional silver based and platinum/palladium prints for a one-of-a-kind image that will awe you with its character and refinement of texture. All work is done to archival standards; prints are produced on heavy weight fiber-based paper. Prints are available in any size up to 16x20 inch. Custom finishes such as sepia, are also available. Color portraiture is also available upon request.

Sitting Fees

• Standard studio black-and-white package: Shot with a 4x5” portrait camera, we will take up to twenty shots (five proof sheets). Includes one 8x10 finished print of your choice. Additional prints in your choice of sizes available a-la-carte. $300

• Standard studio color package: Same as the standard studio black-and-white package. $300

• Deluxe studio black-and-white package: Ten shots with the 8x10 camera – when you want the best in image quality. This is what the most famous portrait artists of the 20th century used to capture their images – Richard Avedon, Yousouf Karsh, Irving Penn, to name a few. This package includes your choice of two finished 8x10 prints. $500

• Platinum Studio package: The ultimate package – 10 photos, shot with the 8x10. The final print(s) will be hand-printed. Platinum/Palladium printing is an antique printing process that requires contact printing, not enlarging, and special custom development of the film to match the characteristics of platinum paper. A lengthy and labor-intensive process, this is the ultimate in fine-art image-making. Additional 8x10 platinum/palladium prints are available for $150 each, no discount for volume. Silver-based prints are available from the same negatives for the same price as the deluxe package prints. Included in the package are two 8x10 prints - $800

Print prices for common sizes:

All printing is done to “exhibition” standards. You will be proud to hang your prints in the pride of place in your home, at your office, or wherever you want to show them, for they will be made to my highest standards, the same as if I were exhibiting them in a gallery or museum.

From 4x5 negatives:
o 5x7/8x10: $60 each, $50 for multiples of the same image in the same size
o 11x14: $100 each, $80 for multiples of the same image at the same size
o 16x20: $150 each, $125 for multiples of the same image at the same size

From 8x10 negatives (minimum print size 8x10):
o 8x10: $100 each, $80 in quantity.
o 11x14: $150 each, $125 in quantity
o 16x20: $200 each, $150 in quantity

All of the above packages can be customized for shooting on-location – in your home, at a favorite park, the office, etc. For a location shoot, there is a minimum $200 surcharge, which varies based on time, distance and equipment required.
