Commercial Photography FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

Q: What is commercial photography, and why do you charge the rates that you do?

A: Commercial photography rates are based on several factors. First and foremost, is the value of the photographers' expertise. It takes a highly trained and talented eye to know how to properly arrange and illuminate your subject, whether it is a 300 year old chair, a glass vase, or a box of Krispy Kremes. Second, all those lights and cameras (and in these days, computers) cost money. Serious money. Third, is time. There is advance prep work- meeting with the client, determining their needs, gathering the appropriate equipment to do the job, transportation to the job site, setup. This can involve multiple hours of work that are absolutely required, but the client never "sees".

Then, there is the shoot. The post-shoot efforts are equally significant - disassemble the gear, return to the studio, image processing and presentation. If you are shooting film, this means get to the lab, drop off the film, return to the lab to pick up and approve the film, then organize and present to the client. If it is digital, it means downloading all those high-resolution images, formatting them, naming them, and yes, cleaning up any digital artifacts or issues with the images before burning to a CD or FTP'ing the files to the client. When the customer is shooting pictures for themselves,"just good enough" is an acceptable outcome. When you hire a professional photographer, "just good enough" is not an acceptable option. It is their job to make whatever they photograph look THE BEST.

Here at The Flying Camera, we deliver THE BEST. The images we create will make your product, your house, office or building, or your self, the star of the show.
